Part time insurance

Anyone have experience with car insurance for a car that isn't driven much? My agent told me they do this with classic cars all the time. My 2nd car is not a classic but I am lucky to put 1000 miles on it in a year, and I want to get the lowest possible rate on it.

Allstate offers it for "part time" vehicles. I think you're good for up to 5000 miles per year.

All the major carriers should be able to offer you a part time policy. If yours can't then its time to look at switching companies.

My husband and I own a large military vehicle that does not get driven much so I have storage insurance on it and my policy covers it under 1000 miles within the year.

It is actually a CUCV, though my husband is trying to talk me into letting him buy an old Humvee also. I don't see it as necessary investment so he has yet to succeed.
